What grade beam size for a deck?

I'm going to build a 10-foot deck with a covered storage area. I would like to install 12 "@ 4 foot deep concrete colleagues every 8 feet - then just jet over the peers in a 2x6 @ 16 Support" to support stud wall with the 2x10 x 10 'rafters resting on the top of the deck-no cantilever the margin for the degree beam 8 feet with perhaps a 2 foot cantilever on both ends? ((Or not, span I need to 4 colleagues), what size beam I-I need was thinking a 6x8 pt wood roof will likely balloon from the stud wall below deck rafters

  • (retired) with a PT 4x10 pine beams with columns 8 'apart, the maximum beam span 10' in the following table

A taller, thinner beam has more power than a shorter, thicker.

I would recommend using 3 columns, 5 'at the center, with a 1-overhang at each end to the required 12' to give length (and the 4x10 bars).

You can go further if you (6x10) want, but I would not go shorter (8 "beam). Source (s): http://www.ideas-for-deck-designs.com/deck_beam.html
