My immersion heater has stopped working please help?

My wife called me this morning to say it was an excellent noise and burning smell from the dipping cabinet and then cut off the continued supply voltage for the timer box. Is it the pump or is it more serious? Who sounds

  • her it will not be a pump! Its either the switch or the heater itself, but because you have a burning smell, its much more likely to be the switch or timer. If you should come home to be obvious, but if not isolate the power circuit and unscrew the DP switch to see if its burnt out. Replacing it is easy if you have enough leeway pair cable back over the burned insulation. Make sure you tighten the screws well, but do not let the screwdriver slip and damage the screw slots.
